The DecalGirl Xbox and Xbox 360 skins came to us in a flat envelope with a sturdy cardboard backing that provided extra support. The skins come in sheets that contain multiple skin parts. The skins were also inserted into thick plastic bags to prevent scratches.

Looking at the skins closer, I was impressed by the high level of detail of the skin and the quality of the product. This isn’t something that was printed on a cheap ink jet printer; the graphics are as crisp and clear as any other decal/skin I’ve ever seen. The colors are rich and bright, and there are no streaks or blurry lines. The designs themselves are very cool; being an anime fan, I especially like the nice picture on the Xbox skin. The Xbox skin that we received didn’t come with a controller skin, but there are some available for the controllers as well.

When it came to installing these skins, I only had access to an Xbox console; hopefully we’ll get a chance to try out the 360 skin as well. I admit that I don’t have much experience with installing decals/skins; unless you count when I was a kid putting on stickers on my Transformers. The first step in installing these skins is to read the directions; DecalGirl.com offers a very informative and helpful set of instructions on their website. After cleaning the Xbox, I started with the easier front panel stickers, which went on pretty easily. I immediately noticed how well the skins fit on the console; ever controller hole and edge matched up perfectly. Thankfully there is no cutting or trimming involved. I liked how the skin comes with many of the little pieces to give the skin a more complete look.

After finishing up the small pieces, it was time to tackle the hardest piece; the large X on the top of the Xbox. Thankfully, with the help of the tips on the website, I was able to install the skin successfully without too much trouble. The vinyl skins have just the right amount of adhesion on the back; not too much that they stick to everything, but enough such that they feel secure on the box even after lifting and adjusting them. Afterwards, I further strengthened the bond by blowing hot air over the skins using a blow dryer

The final results are shown above; obviously, the box looks a lot better than it did about 30 minutes before I started the installation. The pieces lined up very well, even the jewel piece on the top which I thought would look like a mess. But thanks to the instructions and some patience, I was able to improve the look of the box by leaps and bounds.
Conclusion:
The DecalGirl Full-Color skins for the Xbox and Xbox 360 are great products that are easy to install and well-designed to fit perfectly over the Xbox consoles. It goes without saying that these skins will vastly improve the look of your box and allow you to customize it based on your preferences. Overall, these skins are a great way to make your Xbox sparkle and won’t cause you a headache in the process.
